In Australia, small businesses have limited options for seeking justice and resolution in disputes. The ombudsman for Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise, Kate Carnell, is investigating this issue. She points out that while mediation services are available, if the dispute cannot be mediated, then the court system takes over. Going to court takes time and money, both of which are in short supply for small businesses. By the middle of 2018, she will issue a report that summarizes the problem and suggests solutions.
