There has been a shift in the past few years to including internet on normally not internet accessible devices. This process known as internet of things (IoT) has caused a huge upswing in the need for device capability and integration, from home security to what is in your fridge. It is starting to have its effect on other industries like accounting, where scanning of inventory, or being aware of what is in a fridge are now becoming real time and ubiquitous. The key will ultimately be about how to use this new data and platform technology and not let it fall into novelty status.
