The tax on cigarettes and tobacco-related products has raised 13 cents per cigarette, coming up to $2.70 per pack. While many are saying that it is a harsh move to people who are already addicted, it may also serve as incentive for those same addicts to re-evaluate their habits and take the opportunity to quit. Doing so would save them money not only in the immediate future, but would save further healthcare related costs over the course of their life to include insurance coverage.
