Benchmarking Franchisee Performance: Comparing Apples and Oranges

It’s natural, especially when money is involved, to want reassurance. Many business owners will look to similar operations and compare the one to the other, hoping to find things they can use to know what is or isn’t working in their own company before it turns into a problem. Finding like comparisons can be tricky though, especially when even among franchises in the same organization, there can be a variety of factors that prevent an apples to apples comparison. Owners should learn to look critically and carefully to ensure they’re well matched before making decisions.
