Anzac Day 2017: A state-by-state guide to retail trading hours – SmartCompany.com.au

Although every Australian state and territory recognizes Anzac Day as a public holiday on April 25, the states and territories do not have a uniform approach to which business can trade on Anzac Day or the hours during which they can do business. In the Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory, for example, Anzac Day is considered a normal business day. Most business in New South Wales cannot open before 1 p.m., while most businesses in Tasmania cannot trade before 12:30 p.m. Because of all the confusion this can cause, retailers have called for more unified rules regarding trading hours.
