There used to be a time when all payments were made with cash and checks, but these payment methods have dramatically decreased in usage over the past few years. A recent study in Australia showed that in a typical week, only 0.2% of people used a check and only 37% used cash. To pay bills automatic payments were the most popular method, with 65% of persons utilizing this method. 52% of purchases were made with a debit or credit card.
