Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises day is a day declared by the United Nations to give people around the world the chance to enjoy what small businesses do for their community as well as the world. This movement has been heavily celebrated by the Australian government and they encourage their residents to go out into their communities and shop locally. In Australia, small businesses are responsible for a large part of the economy—3.2 million small businesses in the country employee about 5.6 million people, which is equivalent to nearly half the people who are employed.
