In sales, much focus is given to the products generating the top 70% of sales, with little attention being paid to the “long tail”, the other products comprising the remaining 30% of sales. Although these items may not seem worth it to keep in stock, they actually play an important role in acquiring new customers. These are the items that are harder to find, and therefore they are the items that new potential customers may visit a new store to try to find.
