Most businesses understand and agree that waste reduction is an ethical imperative of company operations. However, very few recognize that it is also an economic one too. Year by year, Australian businesses send waste by the tons into landfills despite the existence of alternatives that would be not only friendlier to the environment but also to the company’s economic bottom line. Greener business practices save companies money on overhead and bureaucratic expenses. Furthermore, eco-friendly companies attract new consumer bases and encourage customer loyalty while simultaneously boosting employee morale. The question is not whether Australian businesses can afford to adopt sustainable business practices. It is whether they can afford not to.
