CEO-speak and safety culture – losing track of what matters most

The CEO of BP at the time of the Deep Water Horizon accident mentioned safety as a priority in his speeches. However the majority of those speeches seemed to be more of a sales pitch to investors than a true regard for safety in protecting the ocean and its inhabitants. Upon reviewing his speeches it appears that his regard for safety was driven not from ecological protection but more as a lure for suggesting higher profit margins and recruiting investment.
