Music the key to shoppers’ hearts

Music the key to shoppers’ hearts

June 30, 2017 By James L Leave a Comment

The State of Brick and Mortar survey notes that shoppers enjoy music while shopping. Depending on demographic breakdown, respondents noted that they enjoyed music in the high seventies to low eighties. In terms of why people shop in store over on the internet, respondents preferred the instant gratification of buying a product in store versus waiting for a product to arrive via mail when buying online. They did note that stores need to use apps and phones to push discounts to improve the shopping experience.

Key Takeaways:

  • While polling suggests consumers enjoy music, while shopping live, the number is about ten percent higher when it applies to consumers in the 18-24 yr. old bracket.
  • Consumers used terms like disengaged and unwelcome to describe how they felt when entering a store without music.
  • While almost half the polled showed some interest in deciding musical content in stores, those from Russia seemed least interested.

“Taking in online survey responses from 11,255 consumers in nine countries, The State of Brick and Mortar 2017 report showed that 78 per cent of shoppers around the world liked to hear music while shopping in-store.”
